2033 marks 2,000 years since Pentecost, when the Gospel first moved outward across languages and people. It is a shared milestone for the movement—not because the date itself is pivotal, but because Scripture access matters urgently.
 
Imagine a family in a remote village opening Scripture and understanding it together for the first time, 2,000 years after the Spirit first enabled the Gospel to be carried across languages and nations.
 
In 2010, ETEN’s founder began asking a simple, faith-filled question: What if God, in His Kindness, allowed every nation to have access to His Word by 2033—2,000 years after Pentecost?
 
That question became a rallying point for the movement.

2033 wasn’t chosen because it was convenient, trendy or target-centric. It began as an act of faith—an imaginative, prayerful hope rooted in the story of the Church and the mission of God.

“After this I looked, and there was before me a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and before the Lamb.” — Revelation 7:9 (NIV)

Pentecost marked the moment when the Gospel moved outward, across languages and peoples, by the power of the Spirit. The possibility that God might grant Scripture access for all by the 2,000-year anniversary of that moment is both humbling and deeply compelling.
 
When this vision was first cast, 2033 was widely seen as a stretch, even unrealistic by conventional timelines. If we had chosen a date 75 years later, it would have sounded more reasonable. But ETEN was never built to chase what seems reasonable.

2033 has always been a faith goal. One that calls us to bring our best planning, strongest collaboration and boldest innovation, while still acknowledging that only God can accomplish what His mission requires.
 
And yet, year by year, we’ve watched God shrink the gap by opening doors, accelerating methods and deepening collaboration across the global movement.

 But the true “why” isn’t the calendar—it’s the people.
 
The aim is not just to start translation projects, but to see Scripture arrive in communities in the languages and forms they understand best—so the Word of God can be known, trusted, lived and shared.
 
Access shouldn’t take generations when it doesn’t have to.
